HTML is still one of the best web design languages to use when designing your website. Even though there are more sophisticated ways or languages to design your website, you can never go wrong with the plain old HTML if you want to please the search engine spiders.

If you are new to web design and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and you are designing your first website using HTML, the following tips below will stand you in good stead when designing your website.

1) Always start with the HTML codes or tags commonly found on top of your HTML design page. Always begin and end your document with an HTML tag or with <HTML> and </HTML>. The slash before each code indicates the end. These tags are very important because without them, search engine spiders will have no way of knowing what kind of language your website is “speaking”.

Another important element to take note is the head tags or <HEAD> and </HEAD> which indicate preliminary information regarding your website. One element found in the head of a page is title or <TITLE> and </TITLE>. Even though you may not have any plans of placing a title for your website, it’s still better to have one. And you need to include the appropriate keywords with it because search engine spiders prioritize title information when indexing websites.

Another important element is the META tags – basically these are simply keywords that could help search engine spiders to accurately categorize your website. Be careful when choosing which words to use as your META tags. You have to be as specific as possible and make sure you’ve spelled the terms correctly.

The general styling effects and JAVA commands for your website will also be part of your page’s header. Please ensure that you use the appropriate font style, color, and size to make them easily readable.

The body of your HTML page should starts and ends with the codes <BODY> and </BODY>. This is where the main content of your website is found. Design has little to do with the optimization of content for search engines. If you’re concerned about SEO, you should focus on creating keyword-rich content for your website.

2) Try to avoid using frames in your website because they are more difficult for search engine spiders to index. It also does not help when users whose frame options are disabled would not be able to view your website properly. If you really have no choice but to use frames, just make sure that you also create no-frame HTML tags so that people using frame-disabled browsers will know why they can’t view your page.

3) If you are using tables on your websites, try to avoid having your tables overlap each other. When overlapping occurs, these will result in messed-up HTML codes and make it hard for search engine spiders to index. The best way is to keep your HTML tags clean and simple instead.

4) When using images and other media files, make sure you label and add captions to them. This is necessary because search engine spiders simply loved it. Also make sure if the image file is too huge, include the thumbnails too.

5) Use HTML editors that can help you in optimizing your website for search engine. You can search for these HTML editors online. Basic web design programs like FrontPage and Dreamweaver are not equipped to optimize your website for SEO purposes. Rather these web design programs are meant to help you design your website to look more attractive and functional.

I hope the tips above can help you on your first website.

Recently there have been debates on whether paying for inclusion to search engines is worth it. While there are certain advantages in doing so, the costs of inclusion of a website into search engines are maybe a bit prohibitive for those new to online business. There are two ways that you can look at it but let’s delve a bit deeper to see whether is it really worth the while to pay for inclusion.

First, let’s look at the advantages of paying for inclusion. Depending on the search engine, the prices can go from a couple of dollars to thousands of dollars. Normally if you want the higher the price, the better it would be for your web site’s ranking. But this not mean that you will get the number one ranking, instead you are just guarantee a fast or should I say instantaneous inclusion into their search engines listings. This will give you some instant traffic, but no promise on how long you will remain on or where you will be listed at. The main reason for paying for inclusion is to get on the search engines quickly. As you know time is money and if your website gets listed faster, you’ll be able to generate a profit much faster and this is a factor why people paid to be included.

Now, let’s take a look at the reasons for not paying to have your website included in the search engine rankings. As you know, search engine rankings are determined by many factors and by going the non-paying way, you will learn and understand the many factors in getting listed. It also gives you time to improve on your web site without really worry about dropping in the rankings. As you make improvements to your web site you will start to move up the rankings. The money you save on not paying for a ranking can be put to other use on web site.

Both ways have their own merits but for me I feel that if you are a newbie and onto your first site, it’s important for you to master and understand the fundamentals of getting your site listed and index in the search engines. Once you understand how things work, for future projects you may consider paying for inclusion. Otherwise if you want to your site to be listed and index faster, the paid inclusion is the way to go. But you need to understand that paid inclusion is not permanent and you will not know how long you will remain or where your site will be listed. That is why for me the non paying conventional way is still the best to go initially.

As a web master, you should always strive to get your website to the top of the search engine. But in reality, only a few web masters can actually make it happens. Although it take time, but in actual fact, it is not as hard as what others make it to be. Yes, although it take some time but these few proven methods may get you results in no time.

One method to increase your search engine ranks is to create many internal links within your website. Cross link your web site’s important pages within the site to maximize the Page Rank of all your pages.

Another method is to get more incoming links. Try to exchange links with web sites in the same niche. Approach these web sites owners and ask for links. If you do it properly, most likely your request will be accepted. If you find this method is too time consuming and slow, you can create lots of mini sites in the same niche and cross link back to your main site. Search engine robot will see it that you have a lot related incoming links and think that your website is important. Or you can submit your web site to a link exchange directory. You can choose any of these ways to increase your incoming links but for me I would suggest you incorporate all three ways into your link campaign instead.

Another method is before you purchase your domain name. Research and get a domain name that is related to your niche. For example if your web site is about “dogs”, get a domain name with the word “dog” in it. In this way, it will be faster for your web site to get listed in the search engines. This is a very important element in getting your web site rank highly.

Last but not least is your web site’s content. Content is very important and the more unique and original content that you have the better your search engine ranking will be. Also, try to update your content as often as possible. Search engines loves new content and if you update your web site regularly with fresh content, search engines will rate your web site more favorably resulting in higher search engine rankings.

Alright, these few tips will set you in the right direction in getting your web site rank highly. Do be patient as it will take time for you to see results and don’t ever give up just. If you approach it consistently, you will see results in no time.

One of the first things that you should ever do when you start a new web site is to get your webs site listed on Google Search Engine. However, sometimes it can be quite tough to get listed and if you are a newbie you may get frustrated by the lack of progress in getting listed after trying all sorts of ways and means.

However it can be quite simple if you know the way to do it properly. There are four tips that you can used to enhance your chances of getting listed on Google in the shortest possible time. You must understand why it is important for you to get listed in Google as soon as possible. Google as the biggest search engine out there can refer more traffic to your web site than other search engines and this could make or break your online revenue.

Please note that many variables can affect your web site from getting listed, but for the most part these four tips will give you a head up on your competition. However you must understand even though you used these tips, there are no guarantees that Google will list your web site. In fact, many web sites never get listed for various reasons.

Ok, now to the four tips.

The first tip is to submit your web site to Google. It is a very simple process. By submitting your web site to them, Google’s robots will start to crawl your site but there is no guarantee when your web site will be indexed on their search engine.

Another tip is to solicit a link from a web site that is already indexed and listed on Google. When your web site is linked by other web sites already listed and when Google crawl those links to you, Google’s robots will head to your site as well. In fact this is Google preferred way to index site this is the easiest way to get listed quickly. Just make sure you get your link listed on quality web sites and getting listed will be quicker.

The third tip is to submit your web site to Yahoo directory and the Open directory project. As any sites that are listed on these two directories are always indexed by Google, it is important for you to get your site listed as quickly as possible too in these two directories.

The last but not least is to apply for a Google Adsense publisher account and put up Google Adsense ads on your web site. The reason for doing so is very obvious. As you know, Google makes lots of money through their advertising channels and if you start to put Google’s ads on your web site, chances are Google want your site to be indexed too and start having traffic and this turn bring them more revenue. If you do not have an Adsense publisher account, you can sign up here.

These four easy tips will probably get your site listed in the shortest possible time but it will still take time. Do not fret if your site is not listed right away, just follow these few tips and you will have no problem getting your web site listed. The other thing you need to remember is that content is king and you need to have plenty for the search engines to look over. This very important element is something that many people tend to forget about and it will hurt their rankings in Google’s search engine. Google is the king of search engines so treat them right and they will treat you right with more traffic to your web site.
