Getting traffic to your site is one of the most difficult and often asked questions. There many methods to drive traffic to your site, some of them are free and some of them you need to pay for them. If you are new to internet marketing, there are many free methods that you can employ to drive traffic to your site. As these methods are free, you need to put in some amount of time and effort to make these methods work. Now, let’s go through some of these free methods so that you can have a better grasp on what to do.

One free method to get free traffic is through traffic exchange programs. These programs are widely used to exchange and get free traffic. However, different people will meet with different degree of success. Oftentimes, it depends on a lot of factors which you have no control over.

Another free method to drive traffic is through article marketing. I’ve been using articles to drive traffic to my sites and I find them to be one of the best free method around assuming you are writing your own articles and submitting them manually. The biggest advantage of this method is that it works as most of the articles are picked up by search engines and can stay on for years thus giving you traffic month after month. The latest craze on the internet is social network sites and this is another great free method to drive traffic to your site. Just like in conventional networking, social networking is where you meet people like yourself and you can exchange ideas about growing your business. The best part about social networking is the relationships that are built through these organizations. These are great traffic builders for your business.

Another free traffic method to drive traffic to your site is through using splash pages and a free gift. Also know as name squeeze page or landing page, a splash page is a fancy designed or even a generic page that lets you give away a free gift in exchange for their email address and name. These pages can also redirect these customers to your web site once they sign up. Although their intention may only be the free gift, but you now have an email address to add to your list and at the same time direct them to your site. You are actually killing two birds with the same stone by using this method.

Blogs is also another free method to direct traffic to your site. Probably the hottest thing right now in Internet marketing, a blog will get you tons of free traffic to your site in various ways. Blogs are basically mini web sites which are usually based on a subject or just a way for people to express their opinions. A blog can also be an extension of your site. In a way, it would encourage people to visit your site for regularly for updates of your postings on your blog.

One of the oldest free methods is through free classified ads. Free classified ads are still widely used on the Internet and contrary to popular belief they do work. People visit them and actually see what people have to offer. Although their appeal and effectiveness are not at the level that they used to be, classified ads are still a valuable source of free traffic.

Another free method is through signature files. They are usually what is attached below your signature be it in an email or a post on the Internet. These signature files will get clicked on and free traffic is the result from them.

And finally in my own opinion, one of the best methods is through forums. Most forums will allows you to create a signature with links back to site and whenever you write a post, your signature will appear under the post which in turn will act as a source of free traffic back to your site. You can also post content which link back to your site. Please take note that not all forums will allow you to put links in your signature or posts. Please read through the TOS (Terms of Service) of each forum before posting. You don’t want these forums to ban you from being a spammer or trying to advertise your site so blatantly.
