Selecting a Suitable Domain Name

Posted by Albert at 12th September, 2007

Once you have decided what your website is going to be, it’s time to sit down and seriously consider selecting a suitable domain name. Depending on the nature of your website, it would be advisable to choose a domain name that is related to the niche you are targeting.

It will be advisable to choose domain names that are two or three syllabus. Domain names that are short and keep within three syllabuses are easy to remember for most people. Also take into consideration the marketing aspects of your domain name if you are trying to market your business or other products.

For example if you are going into affiliate marketing and want to promote a particular ebook product called Lose Weight Fast, you can consider domain names like lossweightfast.com, losefatfast.com, losefatsfast.com, or loseweightquickly.com. By using these keywords related domain names, when people search for this particular product, your website will be one of the first few to appear in the search engine

And if you are thinking of setting up a personal blog, and your name is James and surname is Bond, your domain can be jamesbond.com. If the domain is taken up or if you want to be more creative, you can choose whoisjamesbond.com or even james-bond.com. The thing is you must be comfortable with the domain name.

Remember always go for .com rather than other extension like .net, .info, .biz. Although there is nothing wrong with the other extensions, having a .com behind your domain name is more professional and seem like you have been on the net for a long time.
