As a newbie, information overload is one of the biggest hurdles one has to overcome. At the very minimum it can cause you to lose precious time and stall your progress, If you are not careful it can even make you give up on your internet business in totality. I was once a newbie and information overload is something that nearly caused me to give up and walk away from the internet arena.

That is why it is very important for you if you are a newbie or struggling to make money online to take note of this “evil”. I call it an “evil” because it can break you if you are not able to overcome it. Even though I don’t consider myself a newbie anymore, I still have to constantly remind myself to focus on my goal instead of diverting from it.

As mentioned previously, focus is the single most important key to overcoming information overload. While many people will find it hard to focus on doing one thing at a thing, it is very crucial for you to understand the importance of focusing on one thing at a time or just focus on one money making opportunity at one time. While it is indeed very tempting to jump to the next best thing, you must be realistic enough to realize there is no such thing as easy or get rich fast sort of opportunities online.

Even if there are such opportunities around, you may not be able to take advantage as you simply do not have the expertise or resources to do it. Although I’m still learning new things every day, I have to constantly remind myself to focus and keep to my goal instead of deviating to other courses. This is very important as I am bombard by new “opportunities” almost on a daily basics. If you have been online for a period of time, you will know what I mean.

Remember! “FOCUS” is the key to your success that is if you can keep at doing one thing at a time. Good luck! If you have some good ideas to prevent information overload, feel free to share with us. :)

Why Are Blogs So Popular?

Isn’t it unbelievable that blogs which are the online equivalent of a personal diary can become as popular as they are? While many people may not fully comprehend the reasons behind the surge in popularity for blogs, a lot of them are setting up blogs to experiment and see for themselves what the hoo-hah on blogs are all about. Many went on to become blogging converts and although most will not continue to blog regularly, they become part of the blogging culture, contributing to the masses of people who visit and read blogs on a regular basics.

Personally for me, I started off participating in forums and gradually moving on to reading posts on blogs. It is from these blogs that I visit which gave me the idea to set up my own family blog. While the initial idea is not to monetize my blog, I gradually discover a whole new world of monetization opportunities with blogs. Well, that is another post for another day. :) As for why blogs are so popular, I can only speculate on a few possible reasons.

Comment Feature
The ability to leave comments is a big plus. In a way, it sort of becomes a two way communication channel allowing readers to bond with the blog owner.

Content Is Update Regularly
Due to the nature of blogs and the ease in which content can be added just like a personal diary, bloggers tend to post content regularly, giving readers more content and materials to chew on. This in turn drives up readership for blogs, especially certain niches which generate interest and has a huge following.

Conversional nature of posts
Blog posts or content are generally more conversational in nature as compare to content in conventional websites. As most bloggers are not professional writers, bloggers tend to write in their own personal style which many people may find it refreshing and interesting and easy to endear to.

Easy To Add In Content
The way blogging platforms are build is to allow initial non techies like you and me to easily add in content and publish them. Unlike conventional websites, blogging platforms are relatively easy to learn and understand how to use. No longer does one need to understand HTML or other content management systems in order to add or even update content.

Format of content
Blogs entries (posts or content) are pretty easy to read. They are arrange in chronological with the latest entries at the very top of the blog. This formatting style allows people to read the most updated information at first hand instead of having to browse though pages and pages of content as with conventional websites. It is this formatting style which is journalistic in nature that appeals to many people.

Blogs are popular and they are only going to get more and more popular not only as an avenue for people to express themselves and voice out their opinions, blogs are also fast becoming the choice medium for businesses to market their products and services. If you have not start blogging, isn’t it time for you to at the very least experiment and play around with one.

How To Develop Content For Your Site

Developing content is one of the biggest issues facing webmasters. Content is king and this is a real fact of life for webmasters. Having unique and quality content is the best ways to drive and retain traffic to your sites. However, developing content for your sites on a consistent basics is really a challenge and I know it for a fact as I owned and run more than 20 sites at a time.

If you too are having a hard time coming up with content for your site, take a look at some of the more common methods webmasters used to develop content for their sites.

Article directories
You can use articles from article directories as content on your sites. The only requirement is that you must use the content as it is, with all the links and the author’s resource box intact. While it may not seem necessary, I feel the best thing is still to contact the author directly for permission to use his or her article.

Guest writers
This is more applicable to those webmasters who have an established site. When your site is big, many people will be willing to write for you for free to gain exposure and a name for themselves.

Outsource to ghostwriters
Getting other people to write your content is probably the least intensive and best ways to develop content for your site. But it does not come cheap for outsourcing. A good article of at least 400 to 600 words will probably cost you anything from USD $5 to $15. Normally, a good piece of keyword optimized article will cost at least $10 or more. If you have the dough, this is probably the best way to develop unique and quality content for your site.

PLR materials
Using PLR content is probably the easiest and fastest way to develop content for your site. However, PLR content are not only found on a lot of other sites, some PLR content are not at all well written. To overcome the issue of not unique content, it is advisable to rewrite PLR content before publishing them on your site. If you are looking for good quality PLR content, you can check out Niche Content Packages for more information.

Write yourself
Nothing beats writing your own content in your own style. If you are into blogging, having content with your own style and voice is especially important to building a loyal base of readers. Blogs are essentially an extension of a blogger’s personality and thinking and it is really important to write your own content, otherwise readers will have a hard time relating to you, especially if your blog is very much dependent on own your personality to attract readers.

While some webmasters may find it a breeze to write and develop their own content for their sites, many webmasters simply do not have the discipline and time to produce content for a site on a consistent basics. That is why it is important to use a variety of methods to produce content for your sites.

5 Methods To Increase Traffic To Your Website

January 28, 2009 by

A common problem that many webmasters and internet marketers face is how to sustain and increase traffic to their websites overtime. Once your website’s traffic level has reach a saturation point whereby traffic remains constant or even decrease for a period of time, it is time to go back to the drawing board and devise new strategies and methods to increase traffic .

While there are no definite methods to guarantee increased levels of traffic unless you are paying for it, there are some things that you can do to make a difference in increasing traffic. I have listed below some highly effective methods to increase traffic to your websites. All the methods listed are free unless you are looking to outsource these activities.

Build more links
This is a no brainer. By building and spreading your links all across the web, you are in a way creating portals or funnels leading to your website. Although SEO experts will tell you it is the quality that counts and not quantity, for me I will go for both options. Basically, just get as many links as possible. The more portals or funnels you have leading back to your websites, the more traffic you will get.

Take a look at your on page factors
Sometimes, by making minor changes and optimizing your website on page factors will lead to major improvement in the search engines listings. This is why it is important to understand how to optimize your website on page factors for the search engines.

Revamp your website
Giving your website a clean fresh look will do wonders in attracting and retaining traffic. Sometimes, it may be as simple as changing your header. Websites that look clean and professional will definitely be more appealing than a poorly designed website.

Controversial content
Once in a while, it pays to write something controversial that goes against the general sentiments in your niche. Controversial content always generate a lot of buzz and interest. It is definitely something you may want to try if you are in desperate need of traffic. Just get prepared for the backlashes that you are going to receive for your controversial content.

Write more quality and useful content
Content is king and this is something which I think all ethical webmasters will agree. Quality and useful content is always the determining factor in attracting and sustaining traffic in the first place. If you find that your traffic levels have dropped a few notches, it is time for you to churn out more quality and useful content.

The 5 methods above will go a long way towards increasing traffic to your website. Although it may seem tedious and there is lot of things to do, these 5 methods are proven and effective ways to drive and increase traffic levels. If you have the funds, just outsource those tasks that you have no interest in. Otherwise, by following the 5 methods above, you will definitely see increased levels of traffic to your website in the near future. Enjoy! :)
